The Bowens is a 17th century farmhouse set in an acre of gardens in the Herefordshire village of Fownhope. We offer a variety of en-suite rooms, catering for single travellers, couples and families. All rooms have full private bathrooms with bath and/or shower, TV, hairdryer, high speed internet, tea and coffee making facilities.
Our ground-floor courtyard rooms have independent access and allow direct access to your car. Some rooms are accessible to those with mobility issues but we do not have ramps, grab bars etc. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any pets.
Outside, the gardens are laid mainly to lawn with seating areas provided for guests to relax with a book or drink. A BBQ is available for guest use during the summer months (weather permitting).
All rates include full English breakfast made from locally produced bacon, eggs and award winning sausages! A variety of cereals and fruit juice are included and special dietary needs can usually be accommodated with prior notice.
Fownhope, located approximately 20 minutes from Hereford, Ledbury and Ross on Wye is ideally situated for exploring the Herefordshire countryside and is a popular overnight stop for walkers on the Wye Valley Way or cyclists doing Lands End to John O'Groats route. We can arrange collection or forwarding of walkers luggage by prior arrangement. Fownhope has two pubs, a village shop/post office, church and leisure centre/spa, all within walking distance. There are several other highly rated pub restaurants in nearby villages and we can help make advance reservations if you are planning a special occasion.
Fownhope and the surrounding Wye Valley area offers numerous opportunities for touring and exploration, including canoeing on the River Wye, Fishing, Golf, Cider making festivals and tours, Hereford Cathedral and the Mappa Mundi, Hay Literary Festival, Much Marcle Steam Rally, Flavours of Hereford Food Festival and the tri-annual Three Choirs Festival
